I get asked a lot about what HR monitor to buy. Swipe to see! . This is an excellent post from @halton_performance . Spoiler alert: I’m dying in the third pic😂 . @halton_performance is one of the most thoughtful humans and coaches. His ability to be scientifically thorough but then simple when coaching has always impressed me. He’s coached pretty much any type of athlete youth-pro and worked with many clients in pain or rehabbing. He offers online coaching and consults as well! ・・・ Conditioning Progressions . Lots of time I have clients come in and tell me that they do a ton of cardio, group classes, etc. for the workouts. . While getting into the classes and workouts is great- the big question becomes can we make your engine more efficient and more specific to your goals? How do we know where to start? . Here is a simple set of assessments I like to go through with clients to get a better look at their engine. . 1. Resting Heart Rate (RHR)- . This is looking at the efficiency of your heart at rest. A LOWER HR is associated with a MORE EFFICEINT heart. This occurs because you pump more volume of blood each stroke, therefore you don't need to pump as many times per minute to get the needed blood into the body. The American Heart Association has stated a normal RHR is 60-100, but in a training environment we typically we want to see a RHR below 60. . 2. One minute go test (1Min) . This simple (but HARD) assessment looks at your bodies abilities to not only utilize all 3 energy system, but more importantly shows the client and I how well they can "downshift" to their aerobic system and recover. An analogy I use with this is I want the client to not only give me the 📈highest mountain possible (spiking the heart rate), but also give me the 📉sharpest valley possible (slowing the heart rate). Being able to shift back and forth will allow someone to display more bursts of power and strength before completely gassing out. . 3. Modified Coopers Test (MCT) . The MCT shows us at what HR the body switches from a primarily aerobic (with oxygen) energy system to an ANaerobic (without oxygen) energy system. Stay above this point for too long, and clients and

I know that’s not the case for everyone and that’s why I’m so thankful for the bravery and courage Miss Val has shown to stand up for gymnasts and it’s community. It’s not easy to be the one that takes a stand, but it was the right one. ▪️ ▪️ Gymnastics is an incredible sport that I stand behind.
