I've recently become extremely obsessed with the new banh mi stand inside of the new building at Phongsavan called Mai Banh Mi Sandwich. I've made only 2 visits so far and I was blown away each time! Everything is fresh and made to order. I appreciate that each one is labeled as well so you know which you are getting and its ingredients. The bread is soft and warm. A pet peeve of mine is the roof of my mouth being skinned from eating bread that's hard or too toasted. And the ingredients are loaded inside of that bun! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ best banh mi in Milwaukee that's for sure! Possibly even better than Chicago! Everyone go run and try one right now! I recommend 1 and 6! Im very impressed by the new food options available in the food court as well. A seafood stand and many thai options offering different things. I'm excited to try it all! #mke #mkeexplore #pickyeatermke #foodofinstagram #mkeblogger #mkefoodie #midwestblogger #myfab5 #banhmi

I've been patiently waiting for this place to open up. When I saw that they offered bun bo hue, I was ecstatic! It was okay, standard to all those in Milwaukee. Pho Viet is still the best for a tasty bbh. The space was very clean. Menu and prices were typical of a vietnamese restaurant. The service was great. The servers were attentive and didn't rush to get your order out of the way. I would love to come back to try their pho! #mke #mkeexplore #milwaukeefood #mkeblogger #mkefoodie #midwestblogger #pickyeatermke #myfab5 #bunbohue #bbh

Greek Bloody Mary. It was pretty delicious. Im usually not a fan of gyro meat but it was surprisingly pretty tasty! The drink was a bit barbequey to me at first, but became a bit more normal as my meal went on ๐Ÿ˜† it was thick, herbal, and not too acidic. I highly recommend you try it if you're a bloody lover! #bloodymaryaddict #mke #mkeexplore #drank #pickyeatermke #myfab5 #milwaukeefood #mkeblogger #mkefoodie #midwestblogger

Had to have all the usuals! Chicken feet. Chinese broccoli. Seafood superior soup. And crispy shrimp. ๐ŸคคBut switched it up by trying the salted fish fried rice. I was not able to stomach it ๐Ÿ˜ท lol it had a very strong, stinky fish flavor. Fermented fish was probably used in it. I'm sure someone out there loves that though. ๐Ÿคฃ #mke #mkeexplore #milwaukeefood #myfab5 #foodofinstagram #foodblogger #mkefoodie #mkeblogger #pickyeatermke #chinesefood

Dry chili chicken. Possibly the most complex dish Ive tasted in awhile. We requested for it to be as spicy as it can get. Although it wasn't spicy, it was so delicious. Crispy. Flavorful. And it numbed my tongue the more I ate it! And when I drank water, my taste buds went into a strange sour shock. I couldn't get enough. The beef brisket noodle soup was so soothing and refreshing. The twice cooked pork was okay. I didn't care too much for it. The dumplings, always a must! I was trying to be a little healthy and add a veggie dish ๐Ÿ˜‚ so I chose the eggplant in garlic sauce. It came covered in a dark heavy sauce. Probably hoisin and oyster. It was a bit too much with all the flavors going on in the meal. I barely touched it. This was my first visit back at Sze Chuan in awhile. Still exploring more of their menu ๐Ÿ˜Š #mke #mkeexplore #milwaukeefood #myfab5 #foodofinstagram #foodblogger #mkefoodie #mkeblogger #pickyeatermke #szechuanfood #chinesefood #noodlesoup #dumplings

Camarones A La Plancha - grilled shrimp with hot sauce, rice beans and salad. It tasted very barbecue-y and americanized. A bit disappointed because of what I had and loved previously at GTO. Ive been on a food hiatus lately! Life has gotten to me and I just haven't been feeling adventurous to be able to make exciting posts. However, I was able to try a new Jamaican place recently out in Brown Deer. It was a strange little place inside of what looks like use to be a train themed pub. Much of the decor was left behind. My foodie in crime and I both ordered oxtails (of course!) One regular order and one large. Both came out looking not much different from each other. Possibly the smallest portion Ive ever received everywhere else in the city. I didn't care much for the flavor. My partner did not mind it. It was very tomatoey. Reminded me of sloppy joes. The oxtails weren't very meaty either and did not come out hot. The server didn't seem happy to be there. I would rate the food and experience 6/10. #pickyeatermke #jamaicanfood #oxtails #mke #mkeexplore #mkefoodie #mkeblogger #foodblogger #foodofinstagram

Shrimp mofongo. Pretty much fried plantains mashed up with garlic, salt, and a Caribbean sauce. Topped with a bit of pork rind. It was $18. It was okay. The flavors reminded me of potato chips. The portion wasn't very filling. More like an appetizer/snack. The place was packed! And the wait for a table was long. So I opted to sit at the bar. From personal experience, service is always amazing dining at the bar. But that wasn't the case here. My friend never received any water and no one ever checked in with us to see how things were going. The bartender was anxious to get our orders out of the way. Wait for food was also extremely long. They are a new business so I'm sure they are still working out some kinks. They have a lot of exotic dishes I want to try as well so I'm willing to give them another try. #mofongo #mke #mkeexplore #milwaukeefood #foodofinstagram #foodblogger #midwestblogger #pickyeatermke #mkeblogger #mkefoodie

If your looking for Korean bakery, this place is your closest option to Milwaukee! There aren't as many bakery or coffee options as similar places Ive visited during my travels, but they had enough options to keep me happy and help me not go overboard ๐Ÿ˜„ The green tea croissant and beef rib bread was to die for! LONG POST ๐Ÿ˜‚ I am not one to look forward to the holiday season. It tends to be a time of stress for me. I tend to overthink and focus too much on all the things I wish was different. Today I needed to go for a drive. I figured why not try Goddess and the Baker to get my mind off of things. It was quite the drive for me. But I've been wanting to try the place forever now. It was colorful, full of people and energy. I was hoping some of it will rub off on me. Lol. There was almost no seating available. I was lucky enough to find a spare chair off on the side. I had the chicken banh mi, acai berry bowl, and strawberry matcha latte. The bowl was delicious. No complaints there. The banh mi didn't taste authentic, not that I expected it to. The chicken was kinda dry but otherwise quite delicious. I was hoping the latte was going to look like the one I've been seeing all over ig (with the pink flakes) I felt like the strawberry over powered the matcha flavor. It reminded me of Hershey strawberry syrup from childhood. I wanted to try their regular coffee too. I didn't really feel energized from the latte. Ive also been curious about dark matters coffee! The line became insanely long at that point. I figured it was time to leave. No regrets coming to try the place out. I definitely wanna come back to try more on their menu! #goddessandthebaker #mke #mkeexplore #milwaukeefood #mkeblogger #mkefoodie #midwestblogger #pickyeatermke #matcha #acai #banhmi #myfab5 #coffeejunkie

I've been dying to try this place! I had the UB Poke Bowl. It was quite delicious and refreshing. I loved the textures and flavors of each individual ingredient. I just wish the portion was more filling ๐Ÿ˜ญ it wasn't as large as it appears in the photo. It was more like a snack/appetizer. It was my first meal of the day as well and I was still very hungry. I felt like the very hungry Caterpillar ๐Ÿ˜‚ maybe I should've chose something different. Aside from that, I am glad I gave it a shot. I would love to try more. Look how jammed pack those cups are!! Sea salt caramel. Blueberry. Mango. ๐Ÿ˜‹ the sea salt was way too sweet for me. It shocked my taste buds. I really loved the blueberry and mango. If you must know, I feel Pho Viet has the best bun bo hue in the city! It's bursting with flavor, protein portion is really generous, and you can actually taste the lemon grass in it. I love when I'm able to get a crunch of it with a sip and bite! Everytime I've had it here, the quality has been consistent. I have yet to be disappointed. The pho is amazing and one of the best in the city as well! ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿคค I use to enjoy Pho Cali, but its always so inconsistent. Some days its good, others opposite. I haven't been to Phans Garden since they still allowed smoking ๐Ÿ˜‚ during those days I was easily impressed by everything I ate as well ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I totally forgot how it looked inside and how their food tasted! I've been meaning to go back to freshen my memory. But mostly to try their bun bo hue! I was so surprised by all the options on their menu. They offered Chinese and Vietnamese options which I do not recall at all. My foodie-in-crime and I started off with spring rolls. They were okay, but you could tell they were premade and sat around for too long. They were really cold and parts of the wrapping was hard. The pho broth was very beefy, a bit bland. I couldn't detect any of the traditional herbs you'd expect in pho. And there was nothing to season it with but hoisin and sriracha. The bbh wasnt bad, but I could tell that it was just pho broth with a paste added into it to make it taste like bbh. No blood cakes were in it. No traditional greens were given to garnish it. I alternated between the two dishes. As the meal went on, both begin to become tasteless. Both broths were so greasy, the extremely dry lips I walked in with were then very moisturized ๐Ÿ˜‚ (and they still are) I used two spoons while alternating between the two. One for each dish! And the oils/fats solidified on them as I went back and forth ๐Ÿ˜ฌ The pho did it more than the bbh did. The place appeared clean and the server was very kind. And it was fun strolling down memory lane. No regrets here. But I don't think I can go back again. #pickyeatermke #mkefoodie #mke #mkeexplore #milwaukeefood #mkeblogger #myfab5 #midwestblogger #foodofinstagram #vietnamesefood #pho #bunbohue #bbh #noodles #noodlesoup

Tum mour from Vientiane! Not as good as Eesanes! But it certainly satisfies the craving and is ALMOST as good! This one is made with vermicelli rice noodles rather than egg noodles. It also has broccoli and bamboo in it. The thought of the two in papaya salad makes me uncomfortable ๐Ÿ˜‚ so I requested them to be left out of mine! This tum mour also has chopped bak choy thrown into it. I don't think Im a fan of that in this either! First time trying bun bo hue at Pho Ever! And my first time going back since my first visit! It was standard. Stopped by Madison today to run some errands and was dying of hunger! Graze was the first restaurant we were able to get into. I saw on the menu that it was quite Korean inspired. Im not a fan of fusion styles, but my hunger made me not care for the moment ๐Ÿ˜‚ I chose the bibimbop burrito and had their "Bloody Maria" (made with tequila) while I waited. Im no expert with liquor, but now I know, I DO NOT like tequila! It was sooooo weird in a bloody. I think it only belongs in margaritas. I tried my best to finish it ๐Ÿ˜‚ when the burrito arrived, I was shocked by how huge it was. And it tasted very much just like bibimbop except that the veggies were fresh and the rice was different. It was actually sushi rice! I loved everything about it! I left feeling really full! Overall, staff was friendly, venue was clean. Recently tried the empanada bar on Brady St while catching up with a friend. I didn't know what an empanada was but when I realized they were like adult hot pockets, I wanted to leave. I was hangry and wanted a more filling meal. ๐Ÿ˜‚ My friend insisted that we give it a try. I can't recall what I chose but they were quite plain, smaller than I expected, and all tasted very similar to each other. The only one that I could recall is the mushroom truffle parmesan because I love mushrooms and the flavors were similar to a hot pocket. That one was okay. Aside from that, it was a busy trendy place! Professional and friendly staff. Fusion / texmex is not my cup of tea so I won't be coming back. The price was a bit much for what it was as well! 3-4 bucks a piece. My first time having a lobster roll! It was soooo delicious! I was afraid the lobster was going to be overly dressed or mayo-ey. But it was perfectly seasoned. The bun was lightly buttered. Lao style suki yaki. Pretty much a pho broth garnished with seafood, beef, veggies, egg, and bean thread noodles. It comes with a side of peanut buttery bean curd sauce that you add in to your liking. This is the only place I've ever had this dish. I don't know if there is better out there or who else serves it in town. Its a bit bland. I don't mind it. Its refreshing and something different.
