Tried out the Fitness Yoga class at my gym this morning for the first time. Actually, I have been a member of the gym for 18 months and this is the first class I have been to!! WHEN CAN I START TRAINING AGAIN? I couldn’t find the correct answer for this on the internet, but I suppose everyone’s bodies after giving birth is different. We all have a completely different healing process and need to listen to our bodies. Yes I was dying to get my body back BUT getting back to it too soon could have caused even more long term damage. One thing I was super conscious of were letting my abdominals go back together. If you can still feel a gap down the centre of your tummy, WAIT your not ready yet. Exercise is so beneficial for us mums so for me I started with walking. Over the last few weeks I’ve gradually increase the length and intensity of my walk from 30 minute stroll to 90mins hill walk. It feels great to be out in the fresh air for my sanity and to promote healing too. Plus the girls are settled in the moving pram. . Happy hump day ☺️ . The posterior chain - comprising of your calves, hamstrings, glutes and back, is the powerhouse of your body. . It’s vital for runners to have a strong posterior chain - the contracting of these muscles is what propels your body forward with each stride. Back muscles act to straighten and extend the spine; the glutes extend the hips and keep the femurs aligned; the hamstrings extend the hips and flex the knees and the calves extend the ankles. . If you regularly experience knee pain, stronger hamstrings may help. If you regularly experience back pain during runs or at rest, you may have tight, overdeveloped quads and hip flexors. If you spend a lot of time sitting it’s likely that your posterior chain will be weakened - consider adding some of these exercises to your weekly plan to build strength... . ➡️Kettlebell swing ➡️Hip bridge or thrust ➡️Deadlift 👑 ➡️Back extension . Don’t overtrain the bits you can see in the mirror to the detriment of the bits you can’t. For the next 12 weeks I’m participating in an unofficial JSA challenge #jsauc I’ve never actually done any kind of challenge(jsa or other) before and thought this would be good practice before giving the official one a crack. So in an attempt to keep myself on track and accountable, I’m posting my goals here. ⠀ -⠀ I’ve been lax lately with tracking my calorie intake, so for the next 12 weeks I’ll be buckling down and logging everything. I can already manage 1 chin-up but really want to get to 5 so thought 3 was a good middle ground. Steps are mainly to keep me moving and in preparation for when my big kids get here.⠀ -⠀ I didn’t want to set the bar to high or to low because I want to feel challenged but not like a failure if I miss something. I also didn’t want to go over board with to many goals because that could become overwhelming when life happens. Simple clear and concise I think is the best option. Wish me luck🖤

Parent life + fitness life = Home Gym/Play Room! × My @aukgym personal trainer Matt has deserted me in favour of a week in Turkey (who can blame him!) and with the bank holiday plus two mini humans demanding my undivided attention, I've made use of our weights at home. × This morning I did sets of push ups, 7.5kg bicep curls, 7.5kg shoulder raises, 5kg squats, lunges across the room, mountain climbers, and star jumps 💪🏻 × Then I had a shower, got breakfast for myself and the littlest human (my eldest is at Nanny and Grandad's), made a 6 fruit and veg smoothie for my lunch, and headed to my friend's to look after her youngest while she works! × Straight from here I will hot foot it to today's nail client with my daughter in tow, then my son will be back home and it's the usual evening chaos!

Happy hump day!! Super happy with my squats, with 2 more PB’s 🙏💪. I still can’t believe that I’m squatting 100kg....that’s been a goal of mine for over a year!! innergrin. I’m finally feeling like me again after a few days of being unusually

I’m finally feeling like me again after a few days of being unusually depressed. It’s ok to have bad days, just don’t unpack your bags and get settled in to stay there for good. I kept breathing through it knowing this isn’t me at all, and it will pass soon (it turns out I had a bad reaction to a medication - I don’t usually take stuff!). I don’t feel like I fell off the wagon with my diet or exercise plan, I just altered it to something I could manage for those few days. I was supposed to train legs last night. I’d like to pretend I have a love-hate relationship with squats, but it’s more like a hate-hate relationship 😂 I was pretty tired after only 4hrs of sleep (the kiddies with croup took it turns waking me all night - how thoughtful and organised of them 🙄😆), but really I just wasn’t mentally up to it. And that’s FINE. I went for a slow run instead and listened to some music. I find running weirdly calming. It was just what I needed. Followed of course by some chocolate ice cream (I’ve found this awesome stevia sweetened stuff I can actually eat without making my joints angry) and watching people bake on tv. I know, I know...but watching people bake is also calming I’m going to try for a legs session tonight...but if I can’t I’m ok with that. Maybe I’ll just do a half-assed leg session on the machines, maybe I’ll just train upper body (my favourite exercises only - clearly 💁🏻‍♀️)...or maybe I’ll just go for a walk or jog and listen to my favourite songs on repeat. I’m planning on lentil and veggie soup for dinner, followed by chocolate...and maybe a bit more ice cream 😁 Find a balance that ‘sparks joy’ (hahaha I know 😂 I’ve discovered Netflix 🙊).
