Now, I’m sure those voices in your head might be thinking that sounds mighty selfish, but I’m here to tell you it’s the exact opposite. When you're loving yourself and putting yourself first, EVERYTHING in your life benefits. . . Loving yourself means caring for yourself deeply, making your sleep, nutrition, exercise and well-being a priority. It can be anything from making your gym time nonnegotiable or canceling late night plans so you can get enough sleep. It’s about listening to your body and giving it what it needs to feel its best. . I certainly slip up from time to time, but when I hit a certain state of overwhelm, I take a breather, I get out into nature and walk, meditate, take a bath, or just lay down and breathe into my body and remind myself of the things in my life that I am grateful for🙏🏼. . Being present and self aware is the key to being able to get through those tough times. Life happens. There will always be testing times, you will have good days and bad, it’s all about how you deal with these situations and if you’re not in a good state of mind, these situations can spiral and really take a hold on your health! . . Self care and self love is crucial. GUESS WHERE WE WENT TODAY... MACCAS! Today was the first time my boys had ever had McDonalds. We had my nieces bday party here today and this was my thought process regarding this... I never keep it a secret that I grew up having an eating disorder, therefore I have very firm beliefs with how I want to tackle food in our house. I don’t want my boys growing up labeling foods as “good/bad”. I want them to see food as an energy source. I want them to be able to listen to their bodies and see what foods make them feel good vs foods that make them feel unpleasant. In our house we don’t have much “junk” food as I want them to be as healthy as possible, but I won’t be the parent at parties telling them they can’t have certain foods and forbidding them to have a sweet as a treat. Having a healthy and happy relationship with food is so important to me and I don’t want them growing up scared of certain foods or worried about their weight. It was very cute to see how excited they were to eat their nuggets and chips. When did your kids first eat take away food?

I’m back!.....🤓.....Coach check in this morning after one week off training and one week off social media.... I really needed the break and it feels good to be back. One week isn’t much at all but during this week I had so many mixed feelings about everything and really needed to just take a step back and reanalyse my goals, motivation and priorities. This week was a HUGE one, recovering from partying last weekend for my hubbys birthday, late nights with parent teacher meetings, long work days with no break and I didn’t train or track my food the whole week! I contemplated many different changes in my life and was convinced I wanted to just call it quits with tracking all together. Sometimes life gets crazy, work, family, kids, etc etc is a LOT... so it’s ok if you feel like you need to just take a step back and have time to process it all. . I did my first workout last night for the week and it felt great!! I know this one week was not a set back but just a stepping stone and learning opportunity for me to keep growing. . There is a lot of advice out there saying ‘weight loss or fat loss is easy’, you just need to be in a calorie deficit. Now this is true but you can’t start in a deficit if you are already under eating. Secondly, promoting that you can get your calories from any foods including highly processed & sugary foods. . . Now this is also true, yet I don’t believe it’s teaching people how to establish a healthy relationship with food or self control. I don’t believe in putting restrictions in place with my clients but I also don’t tell my clients to eat donuts & ice cream everyday as I want them to get most of their calories from whole foods to nourish their bodies. . The other reason is that 80-90% of the women I work with struggle with emotional or binge eating. They don’t have the will power to stop when they get to a certain amount of calories. If we don’t deal with the root cause of what’s going on then unfortunately this unhealthy relationship with food will continue. . . So this type of talk online can be really confusing for women who struggle on the daily with their internal dialogue and relationship with food. If it was that simple we wouldn’t be living in a world that is vastly overweight, unhappy and unhealthy. . . I give each of my clients a customized calorie/macro breakdown. This comes with a meal plan and suggested recipes but they are free to also create their own recipes as well. They also get 2-4 free meals per week within their parameters. This teaches them the value of food & helps them to understand what it is that they are eating and gives them the power of free will, helping them to bring balance into their lives. . . I then EDUCATE and support them as they work through their issues such as emotional eating, self doubt, negative beliefs, managing stress, or all of the above. . You see, it’s just not that ‘easy’. The key is to commit to doing the work, educating yourself, surrounding yourself with like minded people so you feel 100% supported and to find a long term sustainable system that works for YOU! . Sunday Funday…and the start of half term, anyone got anything exciting planned with their littles? 😆 Yesterday I started talking about warming up 🔥 and today I’m going to look at that in a little more detail…you KNOW I love a bit of science…☺️ When you're pressed for time, or just eager to get started, it can be tempting to skip a warm-up. But warming up before you exercise, especially before engaging in strenuous activity, has very real physiological, and often psychological, benefits. So just what happens to your body when you warm up, let’s see: 1️⃣Muscle temperature increases: Warm muscles both contract more forcefully and relax more quickly, reducing the risk of overstretching and injury. Your overall body temperature also increases, which improves muscle elasticity which can enhance speed and strength. 2️⃣Blood temperature rises: The temperature of blood increases as it travels through the muscles. As blood temperature goes up, the binding of oxygen to haemoglobin weakens so oxygen is more readily available to working muscles, which may improve endurance. 3️⃣Blood vessels dilate: This increases blood flow and puts less stress on the heart. 4️⃣The range of motion increases: This allows your large joints (such as your shoulders and knees) to reach their maximum movement potential.
