I have had a wonderful time this past few days. I didn't exercise for 5days? I ate everything and anything without guilt. A healthy lifestyle is not restrictive but you have to take care of your physical and mental health by eating right, exercising, relaxing and having fun even when life is throwing spiky lemons at you. Today I have jumped back in. Creating a balance between enjoying myself and taking care of myself. I am still super tired from creating a fantastic birthday party for my little man yesterday, so, I took it easy on my self by reducing my weight and reps. The total body exercise is 3 superset. I am starting Week 5 of my #reversediet at my highest calories yet. I have done two previous reverse diet’s in the past year while working with @sdangerfit, but this is the first time I’ll attempt to push my maintenance to an average of 1900 cals/d. . Not going to lie – pretty scary considering I weigh a little over 10 pounds LESS now, than I did when I started with her last March. I took an InBody Assessment when I first started with Susan, and again recently before I started this reverse diet. All 10 of those pounds were almost entirely from body fat and not from lean muscle mass! . Muscle burns more calories than body fat, so it’s important to retain as much of it as possible! . I attribute maintaining my muscle mass to the power and importance of 3 concepts. . 1 - Taking fat loss SLOW to preserve lean muscle mass. I have always lost fat at a slow rate of 0.5 lb/week by utilizing a moderate and not aggressive calorie deficit. . 2 - Strength training with weights 4x per week throughout fat loss. This helps maintain muscle mass! Girls are so tempted to just become cardio bunny’s when trying to lose weight. DON’T do this! You don’t want to just be a “smaller” version of yourself with the same body comp! I promise you won’t love how you look, regardless of what the scale days. . 3 - Hitting that protein goal! 1.0-1.2 grams per lb of body weight.. . If you want to have things you’ve never had before, you have to do things you’ve never done before. . I apply this concept to my goals. I want to obtain further fat loss and obtain more lean muscle mass without dieting down on child size calories, so it’s necessary for me to push my maintenance up as high as possible... past my normal comfort zone. Big time benefits come from pushing past comfort. It’s when change happens! . It’s also necessary for me to push it in the gym, which isn’t optimal when on deficit calories. We cannot LIVE in a calorie deficit. . Not everyone can mentally handle pushing up calories. Your mind totally plays tricks on you in a reverse diet. My scale weight and body measurements show I’m the same size, but my legs literally look bigger to me. . CONT BELOW 💙
