A common feeling that keeps popping up right now is overwhelm. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What causes it? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Overwhelm is caused, typically by a thought that we have and then is translated into a feeling. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ People who experience anxiety often are overwhelmed by their emotions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It doesn’t always have to mean something negative. You could be overwhelmed with love or by something positive as well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But, in this case we are looking at the feeling of being caught by overthinking and intense emotion. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are 8️⃣ tips to help when you get that sense of being overwhelmed: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. I am so guilty of jumping the gun, and allowing worry, anxiety, over thinking and panic run my life. I feel I’ve been this way for quite some time. It destroys me mentally and sometimes even physically, before I have even started. It’s defeating. It’s made me believe I can’t handle much of anything. However, there is very little evidence to prove this. Breathing Practice #1: My take on Wim Hof method. 🌬 Why start a breathing practice?? Descrease stress. Increase central nervous system. Increase lung capacity. Better workouts. Owning your body. 😊 The goal is NOT to strain with your breaths or holds. The goal is to feel relaxed, feel the diaphragm working, clear your head. 🤯 I am doing all nasal breathing here (VOLUME UP). Only took 7 breaths for video time sake. And had to speed up my exhale hold and inhale hold. 🙂 It DOES NOT matter where you start, level wise. The goal is to GET BETTER. If you can only hold the exhale for 5 seconds and inhale for 15 then we have a baseline! Try to do 10 seconds and 20 seconds next time! 😉 1st tried this couple years ago. My best time is exhale hold 1:08, inhale hold 2:12. (This video was inhale 0:42 exhale 1:07). 🤠 I never stress about my time . I like use it as an indicator of my central nervous system level though! 🤓 Try it out. Let me know what you think! Repeat the process (20-40 breaths, exhale hold, inhale hold) 2-3 times per session. 🧘‍♂️ I'll be covering more practices soon! (Box breathing, controlled nasal, different tempos and volumes).
