I’m officially off crutches after 7 weeks!!! To be honest, I physically hated them... so much!!! 😂 however, I will say there’s a lesson to be learned from everything. They forced me to ask for help, which I’m not use to. I like being self sufficient so being on these crutches taught me how to be more vulnerable and less stubborn! Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it! ———————————————————————— SPANISH ✨ ¡¡¡Estoy oficialmente sin muletas después de 7 semanas !!! FRONTAL PLANE HOP TESTS — While there is less research dedicated to frontal plane hopping tests, they can still provide valuable information. — In the video, @dr.nicolept is demonstrating the side hop test (distance not measured here for simplicity), single leg lateral hop, and single leg medial hop. I’d argue that a lateral triple hop could be assessed as well. — Despite performing various single leg hopping tasks regularly, a recent client was fearful of performing the lateral hop test for distance as it matched her mechanism of injury - jumping sideways over a barbell. However, she was pleasantly surprised to find that she did better on her affected leg. — Do you think using a person’s fearful movement as an assessment can help decision making with regards to returning to sport?

Been staying at a consistent weight of 190-195 this past month for spring break! However I have still been able to make gains in the weight room by making sure I’m eating a good amount of protein each day! Last night I finally hit a huge goal of mine which was to bench 315! I got it up super easy to which made it that much better, but it also shows me that I can go even further and I don’t plan on stopping soon! After spring break I want to get my weight up to around 200! Can’t wait to see what more I can accomplish!

I had ACL reconstruction done on my left knee 3 years ago. I had also torn my meniscus & hyperextended my MCL. It was a huge bummer. I was out for almost 9 months. Recently I fell really awkwardly on this exact ramp and was worried I had damaged my MCL. Again. It hurt to skate, it hurt to do yoga, it hurt all day at work. It scared me. The good news is pain is your friend. Fear is not. Pain is there to help you be aware of what's going on in your body. Fear creates unnecessary barriers. I love yoga so much because it allows me to overcome fear by taking back control of my body. I want to share with you a few simple yoga postures that are super supportive to the knee joint. •Warrior 1 into Warrior 3 into Standing Splits: When the knee joint transitions from a 90° angle to standing it strengthens all 4 major ligaments that connect the femur to the tibia, encouraging the "door hinge" movement of the joint and discouraging any slight rotating movements that could potentially destabilize it. •Warrior 2 into Extended Side Angle into Reverse Warrior: Keeping your knee at a 90° angle or less by making sure your knee is stacked over your ankle in any lunge-like movement helps maintain that muscle memory while you are on your board. Any external rotation should come from the hip joint, which is a "ball in socket" joint. •Boat Pose with Variations: This pose is known for cultivating core strength, but with a few added variations it is also extremely therapeutic for the knees. It strengthens the hip flexors, which have the task of lifting your knee in front of you. This takes some strain off of the ligaments. The cycling movements increase mobility and ROM. •Eagle Pose: One of my favorite yoga poses! Not only is this pose beneficial for neurotransmitter receptors as well as how the right brain and left brain communicate with one another, it is very balancing post-injury. You don't have to get into the full posture to feel the benefits, either. Even just crossing one leg over the other while keeping both knees bent will increase blood flow to those areas and help oxygenate the muscles and relieve lactic acid build up. When you want to improve and you already know you can make the largest box in the gym during a basic plyo jump it’s time to add to it. This week I moved into some rebound jumps, still ending on the tallest box this gym has to offer. I’m not quite sure I’m ready to add any weighted resistance, but this worked well for now. Always excited about current progress and improvement. I’ve been putting in the work, and it takes time to recognize the progress. When you do, it’s a successful feeling. It’s my weekend off work and I would be skiing and playing in the mountains right now. Not gonna lie, it’s depressing not being able to be out there. I’m reminding myself this is only temporary and I’ll be back out there next season, but it’s still hard when skiing means so much to me emotionally and physically. Sometimes it’s three steps forward, and two steps back. But you’re still one step ahead of where you used to be. Yesterday I went outside for my first ‘walk’ in 7 WEEKS! It is the first time I’ve felt FREE in nearly two months. I went out walking (hobbling) on my own, for 30 minutes, just listening to my own thoughts, accepting any anxiety, attempting to turn it into positivity, and then allowing it to pass. Never in my life have I appreciated every single step, and breath of fresh air more than I did yesterday. Today I find myself in bed, in pretty severe pain, mainly in my my lower back but also in my knee. Did I push it too far yesterday- who knows! I am observing my body and learning more about it every single day. Do I regret going for that walk because of that pain I’m in now? NOT A CHANCE! It was magical and I wouldn’t change that feeling of freedom for the world 🌍 I hope you can draw some inspiration from this 💕 Happy weekend my beauties 💕
