A few weeks ago, out of nowhere, my left and less injured knee started giving me pain whilst running. 🤔🥴 My physio asked what I changed in my running and training, but nothing really. Today though out on another easy rehab jog, it struck me as I ran across ’my’ golfcourse that my golf pro told me to open up my stance a few weeks ago. Swipe➡️ to the 3rd pic. Basically he wanted me to turn both feet out...........I have noticed some slight soreness in my knees after having hit a bucket of balls 🏌🏼‍♂️but never thought more of it. As it happens, when I ruptured my ACLs both knees it was due to a severe outward movement of my feet/legs.........I am so relieved that I might have concluded where my pain comes from!🙏🏼😃 I guess it means I’ll have to close my stance again and wear my stylish knee brace when I golf!😂 Happy Saturday!😎☀️

Some food for thought this Saturday AM🤔 Great post @drnimamehran ; I am committed to a holistic approach as a future PT that is built on trust/relationship/support and treating more than just the physical diagnosis! Let me know what you think! 👇🏼 . Posted @withrepost@drnimamehran Several studies have shown that return to same level of sport after an ACL tear and reconstruction is around 60-70%. Multiple studies have also shown that one of the biggest reasons for failure to return to sport after ACL injury/surgery is anxiety and fear of re-injury. Cupal and Brewer et al. showed that ACL patients using mental rehab techniques such as relaxation and guided imagery had less anxiety, pain and greater strength than a control group. • Despite the advancements in terms of physical therapy and surgery, our rates of return to sport are not as impressive as we would hope. Our physical therapists, athletic trainers and surgeons are doing excellent jobs treating and retraining the body, but what about the mind? If the biggest factor for failure of return to sport after successful surgery and rehab is fear of re-injury, are we failing our athletes and patients by not providing enough access to adequate mental rehab as well? Are we not paying enough attention to the the mind of the athlete, and thus not treating the whole athlete? If you have had an ACL injury or work with ACL patients in any way, I would love to hear what you think. How can we help our patients thrive? What would have made a bigger difference for you? 👇Let’s discuss below #acl #pt #surgery #mind #body #athlete

I am realizing that as time goes by (55 days since my #aclsurgery ) that I don’t post as much on this IG page. Maybe it is because I don’t think about my knee as much as before, or because my daily exercises are not that exciting. I am still doing Pilates on a regular basis, I have added yoga back to my routine, I try to use the elliptical each day at the gym, I do my single leg leg press and have added weight to my double leg press. My flexion is right back to pre-op, and I can get my heel to my butt and easily sit with crossed legs. My extension is good, but I am still trying to get some hyperextension to match my left leg. My scars are looking good, but still visible. I am now seeing a massage therapist who scrapes my fascia, which has been amazing! That pretty much sums up my knee jourknee right now. I return to work full time as a personal trainer/group instructor on Monday. I begin my Pilates Certification in October... and I keep moving forward. The advice I would give to anyone just starting their own knee jourknee is that over time you will once again heal, and you will recover. #aclrecovery #lifeisajourknee

💥ACL RECONSTRUCTION IS NOT SUPERIOR TO A STRUCTURED REHAB PROGRAM💥 Frobell (2010) in the Knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament Nonoperative vs Operative Treatment (KANON) Trial randomised 141 subjects with ACL tears to rehabilitation plus early reconstruction, or rehabilitation plus the option for delayed reconstruction. At 2 year follow-up there was no significant difference between the groups in pain, symptoms, function in activities of daily living, function in sports and recreation, knee related quality of life, or return to pre-injury or higher level of sport. Further analysis at 5 years found no significant difference between groups for meniscus surgery, time to meniscus surgery, change in KOOS scores, or radiographic knee osteoarthritis (Frobell, 2013) Filbay (2017) performed an analysis of the KANON Trial to determine prognostic factors for 5 year outcome following ACL rupture. They determined “Treatment with exercise therapy alone was a prognostic factor for less knee symptoms compared with early reconstruction plus exercise therapy” #therehabroomphysio #injury #trainingprogram #training #fitness #physiostudent #injuryrehab #running #sportsphysio #physicaltherapy #physiotherapist #rehabilitation #physio #sportsrehab #sportsrehabilitation #trainingvideos #sportsinjury #injuryprevention #exercise #sportsphysiotherapy #sportsphysiotherapist #rehab #Dpt #physiotherapy #PT #aclrecovery #aclrehab #aclinjury #choosephysio

Plenty of time this week and a little introspection and reflection. Time to reset new goals and start building a plan to achieve them 💪🏻 . . 1. It’s okay if the only thing you did today was breathe. 2. You will overcome this. 3. Be a light in this world. 4. Strive for progress, not perfection. 5. Stop waiting for friday. 6. You must believe in yourself first. 7. It’s okay not to be okay. . . #goals #injury #aclrecovery #aclsurgery #aclrehab #yogaeverydamnday #yogagirl #yoga #yogini #breathe #yogainspiration

23 days post op! I drove my own manual car for the first time again today 😍😍😍 definitely wouldn’t manage a big journey and needed a biig stretch before but I’m so happy to be back in my own car!! Definitely a good milestone 😊 pain has been quite bad today though, still very stiff but also just a bit of throbbing throughout the day

Today marks one year since I had my ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair. Injuries are tough and it was a rough bloody year but I just want to thank everyone who has supported me during this time, I couldn’t have done it without you. Life is almost back to normal and I couldn’t be happier. Here are some of videos over the last couple of months, now needing to work on getting all the aerial awareness back but feeling super excited with getting back to some normality ☺️

If you would have asked me last week (heck even Wednesday) what I would be doing today I would not of said having surgery. But I did 🙂 I had a arthrifibrosis (doctor talk for scare tissue removal) and a manipulation (doctor talk for forcing my knee to straighten and bend). Based on the pictures I would say it was a success; but my fight is not over!!! . . . Why did I have to have it? After seeing it from the inside Doc said I had “scare tissue bands”. These bands were preventing full extensions and full flection along with pain due to things not being in the place God intended. . . . As of today I feel GREAT! I can bend as straiten my knee better than I have been able to in months; I’m looking forward to getting the wrap off to see full range!! . . . . Arthrofibrosis is defined as a complication of injury or trauma where an excessive scar tissue response leads to painful restriction of joint motion, with scar tissue forming within the joint and surrounding soft tissue spaces and persisting despite rehabilitation exercises and stretches. . . . #secondkneesurgery #sixmonthsandtwoweeksapart #acl #arthrofibrosis #arthofibrosisoftheknee #ptcontinues #rehab #kneerehab #aclrehab #skiseason19/20 #goals #fight #girlswithkneeinjuries #aclrecovery #girlswithaclrepares #likelindsay #knee #surgey #leftknee #skiinjury #beforeandafter #beforeandaftersurgerypics

Today I made a goal of being on my feet as long as possible. And I think I did a pretty good job of it. My Physical Therapist says I’m doing well, but it’s a long road and seems like no two days are the same. I have to believe that I’m headed in the right direction, even when I can feel my knee “talking” to me all day long. I’m so close to being able to hike again — probably not cross country anytime soon like last summer — maybe on an easy trail or two. But first things first: make it through a solid day of yard work, errands, and cooking. And a piece of this clafoutis. #babysteps #aclrecovery
