Guess how much butt stuff I’ve done to build my booty? Literally 5ish minutes of activation before most of my strength work, if I remember/can be bothered/have time. I lift heavy things most days of the week, do a smidge of accessory work and a smack of a running. No dedicated hump days, no booty band Instagram workouts, no ankle weight kick back things. Do those booty workouts, plans and bands and work? Yeah, of course (to an extent and coupled with a nourishing, building focused diet). But what’s a better party trick: Sexy hips in savasana? Picking up, pressing or carrying your friends? My point is there are funner, more “bang for your buck” ways to fill out your jeans other than doing a billion variations of hip thrusts. #bums

🛠 @guil_mab is a rugby player who had a knee surgery at the end of February. It was an ACL surgery on the left knee 🏉 ••• You will see here a small part of his first 2 weeks of rehab 💪🏻. The goal of this part is to mobilize his knee, work on his quadriceps, walk on his 2 legs and mobilize his posterior chain! ••• 1️⃣ Active knee extension lying on his belly. Interesting to work in CKC (Closed Kinetic Chain) 2️⃣ Bipodal squat up to 60 degrees. This exercise is useful for teaching the patient to push both of his legs by flexing his knee and working his quadriceps 3️⃣ Self-mobilization in flexion/extension. Easy to integrate into exercises to do at home. 4️⃣ Mobilization of the posterior chain. The elastic band gives a good feedback to the patient during the movement. It also allows better control of hip flexion and knee extension 5️⃣ The exercise allows co-contraction of the quadriceps ans hamstrings. The fatigue was real in my session with @jhunter_pt yesterday but put the work in anyway. Finished off with these raised one legged push ups (phew that’s a mouthful. And the one legged part is just because of my knee). I remember at school I could not do push ups at all they belonged to this weird fitness realm that I would never belong to. It was always a secret goal to be able to do one real push up. And now well I can pump out sets of ten or so pretty much no bother. Honestly however unfit you think you are or as if your goals are unreachable I promise you are wrong. I could never in a million years have imagined I would be living the life I do now: A young industry professional, university graduate, two times marathoner and gym goer, been to 37 countries. Morning coffee and exercise. I have my helper with me❤️ . A bit sore from yesterday but "no pain, no gain" I guess. I try to do total of 3 sets of exercises every day, but if I have something going on I'll just skip some of them. . In the morning when my leg is stiff from sleeping, I find it really important to start with extensions and general movement to get the leg going. Also I find that the morning exercises are the most important ones, they really help a lot with walking properly during the day. I don't know if it is because of the blood clot or if it is normal, but I find my calve is giving me most grief. It hinders my ankles movement, it's really sore(though that is starting to get better) on some days, and it kind of makes the back of my knee stiff. Can't explain it better. But yeah, the point is: get the blood flowing and leg moving GENTLY before forcing muscle or movement exercises. He explained to me what exactly is the problem and before i could tell him,he told me what were my issues,i was taken aback...just by looking at the game!! Training with him for 2 weeks,my game ,my day ,my body is feeling so free and light ...its remarkable I can run faster, move much better. Let’s be real: this is hard. My knee constantly hurts. It’s difficult to get around. I just took my first post-op shower, and I wanted to cry. But I found myself happy with my self-talk. “It’s okay, Megan. It’s okay to hurt. It’s okay that this is hard. This is part of the process, and it’s not going to last forever.” I told myself, as I struggled to put my brace back on my leg. I don’t mention this because I want your pity. I am sharing this because I want to share that even in our weakness we can be strong. I am often complimented for my physical strength. But right now, it’s a struggle to pee, carry food around, clean dishes, and get in my van. But these are the little things it’s important to keep doing. I believe humans have such creative potential and immeasurable strength. We can’t always be physically well. We can’t always have things be our way. Sometimes, we have to struggle. Every scar tells a story. A story of strength, courage, determination, perseverance, patience, pain and fear. Fear is the hardest chapter of many ACL stories. Fear can creep up on you without you realising, make you forget everything you’ve been through and how far you’ve come. ACL journeys are hard but when fear sets in it can become even harder. I unfortunately succumbed to that fear this week, I broke down in tears purely because of fear. Fear of starting all over again, fear that I would not achieve what I want to achieve at the end of this journey and fear for what my future holds. Setting clear goals can help to combat this fear, you can do anything you put your mind to and it just takes time and will power. Today marks 11 months into yet another sporting injury story. There are still good days and bad days, but I’m still going, still working hard and still determined to conclude this story with a happy ending. “You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. (Which may be a record—these braces typically don’t last that long.) 🚨ACL Rehab🚨 ‼️45 degree Cutting‼️ This is a video compilation of @lenastein who had ACL reconstruction. 🏀 ❗️TAG a baller ⛹️‍♀️ who has had ACL surgery❗️ 🏀 In this phase of rehab we teach our athlete how to load the hip and drive through when cutting as opposed to reaching out. 🏀 🔥We teach the athlete to push off via generating force and use the cue of “push the floor away from you”. 🔥We also cue the athlete by telling them that their hips should face the direction they are cutting. 🔥Also have the client bend at the hip and knee to at least 35 degrees to improve co contraction of the hamstrings and quadriceps muscle 🏀 Here are some 45 degree cutting drills we like to use with our clients. Only have to wear the brace when I leave the house and the best part is no sleeping with it!! 😴. Can start to up the resistance on the bike 🚴‍♀️, can start swimming laps with no kicking 🏊🏻‍♀️, can do some modified yoga 🧘‍♀️!! Enough to keep me busy before I finally get to run again! Can anyone tell me what's wrong with this picture??? 😩😖😟 . . . In case you're still trying to figure out, that is my so-called "good" knee that is being iced. The past week it has been more painful than my 12 & 20 month post-surgical left knee (which is still painful too). 😢 Completely different kind of pain and location though. Sharp sensation on the outside and kills me to squat or kneel. I've no doubt it likely has something to do with prolonged over-compensation, but other than that, I don't know the physiological reason for the pain. Sharp constant lateral knee pain... Can anyone shed some light???? It’s been 1 week since I’ve had ACL reconstruction surgery, the pain is greater then I expected, and since I’ve lost 1 calf tendon and 2 hamstring tendons , my hamstring simply does not work , it takes great effort to move my leg 1 inch when trying to bend it backwards. Also they needed to repair my MCL so my knee is even weaker. Everyday I do my physio exercises 6-7 times per day, for 10-15 minutes, followed by a half hour ice session . And I have only gained an inch in movement. It will take allot of physio and determination to get my leg back as close to 100% as possible .
